My name is Oluwatoyin Segilola Awolesi, people love to call me ' Simply Segi, short form," SS of Africa ". Let me start by confessing that I'm a greenhorn when it comes to blogging 😉. I am acting based on what I perceive as divine instruction and not out of a need to make money or fame. That's the simple truth!

I am a highly spirited queen married to a humble King, Adewale Awolesi and we are blessed with three vibrant teenage boys. 

I worked for many years as a public relations and advertising executive following my completion of a Master’s degree(MSc in Sociology) from the University of Lagos in 2002. I had a stint in banking which turned out to be less than inspiring  before returning to the communications world. First as a trainer for Poise Nigeria and eventually as a radio broadcaster.

I welcome you to share from my waterpot filled with revelations of wisdom, knowledge and understanding given to me during my night season by my Life-coach, closest friend and also my ultimate influencer - The Holy Spirit. He gives me direction on how to live, motivation to persist and hope for a better tomorrow. 

I waited on my coach for a year to show me the next phase of the vision- Mindscope, a radio program which aired on Lagos State Radio Service, Eko 89.7fm, consistently for six years. Mindscope with Segilola, approved in October 2015, began airing on Monday January 18, 2016, and at some point in 2018, it ran concurrently on air and as a weekly column in the Nation Newspaper, one of Nigeria's widest circulating newspapers.

The brand was serving people with experiential and qualitative information, hosting seasoned and highly influential professionals from all walks of life through engaging and stimulating conversations. The vision was birthed with a purpose to inspire ordinary minds to do extraordinary things with their lives by engaging with the story telling and informative conversations shared by experienced minds.

I must confess that after each episode I felt like a warrior who just conquered a battle! However towards the latter episodes particularly in December 2021, I realised my emotions after each conversation was not fulfilling, an overwhelming emptiness within though mixed with ephemeral pleasure. This restlessness often led me to self isolation after each episode under the shade of my favorite companion within the studio premises: A flourishing palm tree. She inspires me with her fruitfulness. 

Under her cover, I get to spend quality moments with my Coach and eventually on one of such days, a question dropped like an email on my mind; "What exactly are you seeking after?" 

 I struggled to decode the message but to no avail until I decided to make a conscious effort to start studying the bible seeking divine illumination. I sincerely asked God for help since my heart and mind had failed to give answers to my inner persistent longings. Shortly afterwards, a miracle happened! I had a night vision in which I saw some words boldly written and displayed on a white cardboard - "Redefine the Vision!". I woke up feeling an overwhelming peace within, there and then I knew God had shown me what I needed to do. God truly cares about everything we care about ❣️. I had the last episode of Mindscope on Monday, December 27, 2021, can you guess the topic? Finishing Strong! 

I vividly remember one salient point highlighted by my guest speaker, Gamaliel Tanimomo, a seasoned management consultant, in his words, " Finishing strong feels like the great joy a mother experiences immediately she holds her bundle of joy- her baby after the excruciating pain of labor. What a great joy indeed and such is my joy today as I begin a new chapter of Mindscope with Segilola on this platform. 

I make bold to say that my years of active engagements and close interactions with intelligent and highly influential professionals revealed a shocking discovery. I found out that individuals endowed with sound cognitive abilities without being principled followers of Christ actually leak inside and are miserable indeed! 

In light of this, I embraced the words Christ spoke to the Samaritan woman who came to draw water with her waterpot from a well in John 4:13- 14 " Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life". This woman made a wise choice, she chose the living water instead of the ordinary water and she became a change agent in her city. 

Such is the outcome my heart longs for, to be an effective change agent that draws from the unlimited supply of divine intelligence to water lives, enriching every soul within my world of influence to the glory of God the Father, Son and Spirit. Not to be a superstar who glories in nice things that do not matter springing from human intelligence which is grossly limited in potency and reach.
